What is a campus endorsement?

SDSU applicants first submit their materials to a campus committee for review. The SDSU Endorsement Committee or Advisory Board reviews applications. Selected students are invited to interview.  The committee evaluates the overall application and selects nominees to the national competition. Students’ and alumni's applications must be processed and endorsed through the National Scholarships and Fellowships office to be eligible for the competition at the regional and/or national level.  Endorsement decisions are final and not subject to appeal.

The National Scholarships and Fellowships administers the application process for the prestigious scholarships such as the Goldwater, Truman, and  Udall.

Most of the awards promoted by the National Sscholarships and Fellowships require endorsement from SDSU before the applications can be forwarded to the final levels of competition.

Advance preparation for these awards is essential. Eligible candidates should arrange an advising appointment early in the process by contacting the appropriate campus advisor.

Please note: Although every effort is made to not change a published deadline, due to the staffing and budget constraints, all campus deadlines may be subject to change. Please check periodically to learn whether a deadline has changed.
