National Scholarships and Fellowships


As a result of their interactions with National Scholarships and Fellowships, students will be able to:

1) Develop original ideas for scholarship opportunities that connect with one or more of the following educational objectives: intellectual curiosity, creative and critical thinking, intercultural understanding, interdisciplinary perspective, social responsibility, understanding in depth, and written expression.

(2) Explain the criteria necessary to be a competitive applicant and how to improve their overall professional portfolio to apply:

--outstanding academic record

--substantial intellectual or creative projects

--evidence of leadership and public service

--building faculty relationships

(3) Select appropriate scholarships/fellowships that match your interests and identify how the application process connects the attainment of future educational and career goals.

(4) To write a coherent, compelling, and succinct fellowship proposal, personal statement, and abstract.

(5) To collaborate with the writing center and faculty throughout the application process, receiving constructive feedback and effectively incorporating feedback from faculty advisers on subsequent draft proposals.

(6) To prioritize tasks and effectively manage the deadlines and logistics involved in applying for scholarships and fellowships.

(7) To communicate eloquently and professionally in an interview setting
