For more information visit their website at  Intensive, five-week summer programs focused on the history of discrimination and resistance, democracy, and minority rights in Europe; open to undergraduates and recent graduates 

June 8-July 8, 2018: Fellowship programs take place in Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, Sarajevo, and Warsaw. 

Applicants may not apply to a program in a specific country and cannot choose their city of participation. 


  • Current sophomores, juniors, seniors, and recent graduates
  • If you are a non-US citize studying at a university in the US, you are eligible to apply to the HIA fellowship through the US office

Humanity in Action Fellowship in Detroit

The Humanity in Action Fellowship in Detroit brings together a group of 22 people for an intensive program that examines the promise, failure, and possibilities of social and econmic progress in Detroit. The program places special emphasis on democrative inclusion of marginalized groups, equitable development, social entrepreneurship, and public health. 

Eligibility: Young professionals and university students from Detroit, elsewhere in Michigan, Bosnia, and Herzegovina, Denmark, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, and Ukraine.  

The Humanity in Action Fellowship in Detroit will take place from July 13 - August 9, 2018 in Detroit, Michigan.

Applications will open in mid-September. The deadline to apply is January 8, 2018.
